First make sure that a reboot is necessary.

0.  unpack_alive

    A message will be displayed indicating whether or not a reboot
    is necessary.

If a reboot is necessary:

1.  Log in on root account. If necessary, find a free terminal by
    typing Alt-F1, or Alt-F2, up to Alt-F6.

2.  Shutdown the machine:
	shutdown -h now

3.  After machine has powered down, wait for a few seconds.
    Then switch power back on to start reboot
    Checking of hard drives will take about one hour.

4.  Log in on soft account.

Two directories could still contain l1a*.buf files that still need
to be processed: /storage/temp and /storage/temp/ftp

5. Prepare remaining l1a*.buf files for processing.

	unpack_restart

   This does two things:
   - it removes l1a*.buf files from /storage/temp that have
     already been processed,
   - it unzips l1a*.buf.gz files in /storage/temp/ftp and moves
     the unzipped file into /storage/temp.

6.  Continue processing of files in /storage/temp:

	unpack_dvd

Processing of SMEI data is now back to its normal state.


Weekly processing of SMEI DVDs.

Copy all DVDs to hard drive:

1 - Insert DVD
2 - Copy command is defined as alias

	copy_dvd

    This mounts the DVD drive, copies files, then dismounts DVD drive.
    The *.buf files on the DVD are put in /storage/temp.

If the DVD drive refuses to read the DVD, try mounting the disk on
DVD on cass185, and download the content to /storage/temp on cass180
using sftp from cass180.

After all DVDs are copy to /storage/temp, start the unpacking.

3 - The command is defined as an alias.

	unpack_dvd

The unpacking for a whole week of data (half a dozen DVDs) takes
a couple of days.
